Rainbow room

Hello!
It's a snowy day in Belfast, it might be white everywhere outside but inside it's like a rainbow has exploded. I've dubbed our spare room the rainbow room because there's so much colour going on and this week I added just a bit more with a retro fabric scraps garland. It was very easy to make, I cut the strips of fabric, folded and glued the tops back to create a loop, held in place with a clothes peg until the glue dried, then threaded the strips onto white string. I'd like to make a giant version.
Hope you're all having a great week! I'm off to write my February to do list!

Tick

Hello!!!
Well it seems January has been a bit of a blogging holiday! Sometimes blogging is like that, there will be times I feel like I could blog everyday, there are times when I don't blog for weeks, I don't like to worry about it too much, just go with the flow and see what happens. The jobs on the January to do list are getting done which I'm happy about, jobs still to do are have two new lights fitted in our living room and clean the car. One thing I did get ticked off was to repaint our shower room. It's been 5 years since we decorated, the tiles were originally peach, we used a tile paint but over the years it had become chipped, time for a wee freshen up. Amazing what a lick of fresh white paint and a couple of bulbs (only one was working before!) can do to brighten up a room!
The floor had a paint job too and I put the window blind (actually a tablecloth) to the roof, it lets more light in and makes the ceiling feel taller. I swapped wicker drawers for a gold tea trolley to house the bathroom bits and bobs and an ever growing plant collection. Happy with the result and to have another job ticked off the list!
Hope you're all having a good year so far!

Little changes

Hello!
This year instead of New Years resolutions I've got a monthly to do list! This months list includes get a haircut, clean the car, bring healthy snacks to work, amongst others, all very do-able! Number ten on the list was to make some changes to our living room. A while back I'd used some apple crates in our living room as storage, the changes saw them go, now being used under the stairs as shoe storage and in the space they left behind a reshuffle of the lovely retro ladies art to make space for a new picture. I bought this picture about 2 years ago, from a charity shop, where else?! And it's been under the bed in the spare room ever since! Not good! I've also rehomed the deer collection from the glass cabinet to make space for the big lads ever growing library. So just some little changes, I like to keep things fresh and I'm happy to have finally hung the picture!

What are you changing this year?
Have a great weekend everyone x

Drab to Fab

Hello!
Happy new year to you all! I'm hoping 2015 will be a healthy and happy year! With some crafty and home projects thrown in!
2014 finished off with one final sewing project using a beautiful piece of vintage floral fabric my sister had given me for Christmas. We have recently bought a new bed from Ikea, the plain headboard wasn't doing it for me. Then came the lightbulb moment! I'll make a headboard cover from the fab floral fabric. As usual I rushed into the project and completely forgot the measure twice cut once rule. I sewed the cover a little on the tight side but after a strength giving bowl of hot porridge and Nutella (try it! Honestly best breakfast ever!) I managed to squeeze the cover onto the headboard, here's how it's looking now, and how it'll be until I have to cut it off! In 2015 I must learn to slow down!

In my book you can never have too many floral patterns, this gorgeous Marks and Spencer's bedspread was a charity shop find.
Happy 2015!
